Come join Audley Brass band

Thursday, February 26, 2009, 13:20

After its recent move to a new band room, the well-known and respected Audley Brass is in the process of rebuilding the band under the baton of new musical director Colin Hartley.

Numbers attending rehearsals have grown considerably and almost all seats are full at every rehearsal but there is always room for new brass or percussion players with or without experience and regardless of age.

Our new musical director is planning a workshop weekend on the 14th and 15th March. On Saturday 14th he intends to work with our young and inexperienced players and on Sunday 15th with more experienced players.

Members of the public who would like to attend any of the workshops on the Sunday (15th) are very welcome to come along and listen (or join in if you are a player!). We would particularly like to meet you if you would like to learn to play a brass or percussion instrument - age is no barrier, but we would particularly welcome visits from young people on that day. If you decide to learn we will provide you with an instrument to get you started.

The Sunday workshop will be for Baritone, Euphonium Trombones and Basses in the morning from 10.30 to 12.30. From 1pm to 3pm it will be the turn of the Cornets and Horns.

At the end of the afternoon from 3.30pm to 6pm there will be a full band rehearsal when Colin will tie everything together as we work towards a performance.

A number of band members took up brass playing later in life and they are among the most enthusiastic!

The band room is situated in Dean Hollow, Audley (just off Chester Road)

Why not come along for a listen, you never know, you might really enjoy it!!
