The worst of the noughties
JODIE MARSH: This brash Essex lass is an obvious choice for any gallery of fashion worst offenders.
And she plummeted to new lows when donning her best get-up for a filming of Jack Dee's Live At The Apollo in September 2004.
To be fair to Jodie, hipster jeans and dungarees so revealing they left little to the imagination were everywhere in the early Noughties.
Far removed from Rachel Weisz's brand of grown-up glamour, the low-rise look also resulted in the return of the thong – with every imaginable colour proudly on display for the world to see.
KYLIE MINOGUE: She so very rarely gets it wrong that it seems a little harsh to include Kylie in our trawl through fashion mishaps of the past decade.
Still, as this outfit shows, even the pint-sized pop princess is prone to the occasional slip.
Kylie was riding on the crest of a wave when she made an appearance at the 2001 MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany.
Her album, Fever, had produced the number-one single Can't Get You Out Of My Head and a whole wardrobe of hooded futuristic costumes.
But with bright red lips, too-tight corset – unforgiving and unflattering even on Kylie's small frame – and wet-look trousers, this mish-mash of trends is best consigned to history.
MARIAH CAREY: Like denim, leather is one of those materials that is reinvented every decade.
Angelina Jolie wore it well in a black, floor-length Versace dress for the premiere of Mr And Mrs Smith in 2005.
But it definitely didn't do American singer Mariah Carey any favours at the Capital FM awards in London in the same year.
With leather set to make a comeback in 2010, this flashback to the past is a timely reminder that not everyone should be a slave to fashion.
