'What they want to do is plainly not right'
Sharon Murfin, aged 48, from Stoke, said: "I am here to show support for the fight against this ludicrous decision to waste £40 million of public money at a time when services are being cut."
Gill Brookes, aged 61, from Blurton said: "If the civic offices in Stoke are no longer big enough why can't they use the many empty shops in the town to accommodate council staff?"
Sam Brammer, aged 61, from Abbey Hulton, said: "I have come here because what is planned is so plainly not right.
"I don't quite know what this will achieve, but I didn't want to sit at home when I could be out here having my say."
