Bill James, aged 79, of Gillow Heath, said: "I live in a cul-de-sac so I don't think I need the spikes, but I think they will be good for some people."

Roy Mellor, aged 62, of Northfield Drive, said: "I might get some. I could do with them on my new garage to keep the birds off it."

Jean Vernall, aged 72, of Warwick Street, said: "We've had some lads climbing over our fence so I will try to get some spikes."
