FootballL Four-midable Young leads Albion effort

FOUR-GOAL hero Ian Young led from the front as free-scoring Tean Albion took another huge step towards promotion.

But the Tean outfit were given a massive scare by Three Tuns.

The Uttoxeter side were all square at the break after Albion let slip 2-0 and 3-1 leads.

And when Tuns were awarded a penalty, the Division Two form-book looked about to be turned on its head.

But Tuns failed to find the target from the spot and Albion went on to win the game by a comfortable margin.

With Daz Turner confined to hospital, Tean Albion assistant-manager Richard Amos took control of Sunday's game. The assistant started Jake Smith in central midfield with Aaron Chell on the left wing.

Albion were on top in the early stages and scored easily in the first quarter through Jamie Housley. Shortly after, Young scored his first of the game and it looked like Tean would run away with the game. But Tuns bounced back to make it 2-1.

Young responded almost immediately with his second to make it 3-1 to Tean.

Inexplicably, Albion then changed their tactics away from the type of football that had put the home side into a commanding position and started to hit hopeful long balls.

Tuns took advantage to net another goal and went into half-time just one goal behind.

A rare Albion mistake in defence enabled Tuns to level the game after the break.

Albion's management then rang the changes in a bid to wrestle back control.

Chell was replaced by midfielder Karl Allcock to play alongside Smith, while Ian Parker was pushed out onto the wing.

But it was Tuns who threatened to make the decisive breakthrough after winning a penalty when White was penalised for a foul in the box.

But the spot-kick proved a turning point in Albion's favour.

The penalty was fired wide and Tuns appeared to lose any belief they had of winning the match.

Soon after, Young bagged his hat-trick strike – quickly followed by his fourth of the game. And with some 15 minutes left, Housley climbed highest to head Albion's sixth.

Kyle Cotton then replaced Rob Collett and Albion again started to enjoy their brand of pace and touch football.

Man-of-the-match Calvin Clarke put in a number of strong runs down the left and made several telling crosses. Young was superb up front, while the Albion defence were soon back to their dominant best following nervy moments earlier and the game finished 6-3.
