Uttoxeter and District League round-up

JCB LAKESIDE kept up the pressure at the top of Division Two with two victories inside four days.

Last Thursday, the Rocester outfit beat promotion rivals Cheadle Town End 4-2 at home with goals from Andy Gregory and Darren Boot adding to two from Keith Gregory.

On Sunday, another Gregory goal was enough to overcome a brave performance from struggling AFC Marchington.

Cheadle Town FC are just two victories away from clinching promotion to the top flight after ripping through Old Star.

A goal from Dan Carr and two from Craig Smith, added to an own goal and a Liam Saunders hat-trick, completed a 7-0 thrashing of the Uttoxeter side.

Elkes scuppered Cheadle Harriers' own promotion push with a surprise away win. David Foster grabbed the only goal of the game at Churchill Road.

Stone Town knocked Black Swan – who have now slipped to second from bottom of the table – for six without reply.

In Division One, Cheadle Cricket Club tore Doveridge apart to consolidate their mid-table position.

A goal from returning midfielder Luke Boulton and braces from Alex Wood and Dan Brunt did the damage at MacKenzie Crescent.

This Sunday, AC Star take on Red Lion in the Division One cup semi-final at Pennycroft.
