Football: Draycott Potter 2, Cheadle Town End 1
Town End boss Howard Heath went into the match missing leading scorer Ash Seabridge and strike partner Karl Turton, who suffered a broken ankle against JCB Lakeside last Thursday.
His side then fell behind to a strike from Simon Podmore, but pulled a goal back with a header from prolific centre-back Ian Wheawall.
And although the Cheadle side pushed for a winner, it was Brian Hilton's Draycott who snatched a victory just as the tie seemed certain to be heading for extra-time.
Without the distraction of the cup, a disappointed Heath is now hoping a late surge in the league could still gain his side promotion.
"We had a very poor first half, but during the second period we bombarded them and there only looked as if there would be one winner," he said.
"But it was not to be and now all we can do is concentrate on the league.
"If anyone above us slips up we need to make sure we take the opportunity to close the gap. We have already played all the top teams, so if we keep pressing, we might just sneak in to the top two."
Draycott Potter's Andy Higgs, red, and Cheadle Town End's Dave Elkin battle for the ball.
