Thanks from the frontline
For safety reasons both Major Paul's surname and regiment have been removed. He is the officer commanding a protection and transport company in Kabul.
The letter states: "I would like to say a huge thank you to you and your colleagues for all that you do on our behalf.
"Your parcels and letters are all gratefully received, with one exception and that is our postie, who has now gone off sick with a bad back from your generosity.
"As you will appreciate we would much rather be at home with our loved ones but will make the best of what we have and where we are and your kindness goes a long way to helping make it as special as possible.
"For some, this is their first Christmas in the Army and their first operational tour.
"At the other end of the scale are the old crusties like myself and the company sergeant major who have five tours each away.
"Once again thank you to yourself, SOS, and all who have generously donated.
"You make a lot of people very happy. Have a great 2010. Stay safe and stay lucky."
