Commission's proposals

Recommendations from the Audit Commission include:

Undertake a thorough review of the authority's financial administration, including its capacity and capability, and establish an effective staff structure and systems for the future;

Arrange for the preparation of and submission for audit of the 2008/09 annual return and outstanding information for 2007/08;

Make arrangements to appoint a responsible financial officer;

Obtain and act on appropriate legal advice on the powers under which the council might include retail development in its plans for re-developing Uttoxeter Town Hall;

Obtain documentation to support the sale of the land at the rear of the town hall.
