Lindsay Clowes, aged 49, a teacher from Newcastle, said: "It is a good idea. If it strengthens their ability to resource and support children with special needs then it has got to be a good thing.
"And if the staff are catered for and the transition can be made as painlessly as possible, then that will strengthen it even more."
