SOUTH Cheshire firm The Green Electrician hopes a ruling stating Government cuts to solar panels subsidies are unlawful will restore confidence in the market.

Energy Secretary Chris Huhne lost his bid to overturn the ruling last week, but has confirmed he will seek to appeal to the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land.

Claire Davies, director of The Green Electrician in Nantwich, said: "This is the right decision and one that brings greater clarity and stability to the solar industry. We need a stable market with investor confidence for our business to survive. This can only happen by the Government delivering lawful, predictable and carefully considered policies.

"We hope that some confidence is restored."
