Two hurt after trike crashes into tree

A MAN broke his arm and collarbone when the motorbike trike he was riding crashed into a tree.

Firefighters had to release the rider who was trapped following the crash in Meaford Road, Stone, at 12.20pm yesterday.

His female passenger, who has also not been named, suffered bruises to her face and body.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews found a trike which had been in a significant collision with a tree.

"They worked with firefighters to release the man while he received treatment for his injuries.

"The man was immobilised with a neck collar, spinal board, leg and arm splint before being taken to the University Hospital North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment."

The woman was also taken to the University Hospital as a precaution.
