A FIRE station is opening its doors to the public for a family event.

The free open day at Congleton fire station will take place from 10am until 4pm on Sunday, July 19 at the station, in West Road.

There will be a range of activities, including free face painting and a bouncy castle. Firefighters will also be putting on a road safety collision demonstration.

Visitors can see some modern and vintage appliances as well as some specialist vehicles including the high volume pump and the service's largest appliance – the hydraulic platform.

Firefighter Tam Blair said: "This is a great way for the community to discover more about their local station.

"We would like as many people as possible to come along to the open day, have a great time and leave with some vital fire and road safety messages."

For more information about the event call the station on 01260 272223.
