No action on website row

POLICE will not be taking any action against the president of Staffordshire University's Students' Union following a row over a website article.

Assed Baig posted an article on the union website last month, which contained a link to a site identifying 30 BNP members living within two miles of the university's Stoke campus in College Road.

The article was removed from the website hours after The Sentinel contacted the union, which stressed the statement expressed the views of an individual and not necessarily its other members.

More than 1,000 students joined an online campaign to force Mr Baig to resign from his position as president.

However, Staffordshire Police and the university have announced they will not be taking the issue any further.
