MICKY Adams insists the club will stand by loan striker Jamie Guy after the 22-year-old appeared in court charged with racially aggravated behaviour.

Guy has made four substitute appearances for Vale since arriving on a three-month loan deal from Colchester United last month.

On Friday he appeared at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court where he faced a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour, which was racially aggravated, on Saturday, October 17, in Hanley.

He was given bail and is due to reappear at North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court for committal to the crown court not long after his loan deal expires on January 6.

Adams said: "We are aware of a situation with one of our players and it will be dealt with internally.

"But having said that his new court case has been set for when he is not officially our player.

"He will stay for the duration of the loan because he hasn't been found guilty of anything.

"I believe in the justice system in this country and we will let the courts decide whether he is guilty, or not guilty, of whatever he has been charged with.

"But at the moment he's not guilty."

While the magistrates indicated they could deal with Guy's case the striker has elected to go on trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Guy, who lives in Essex, was included in Vale's squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Meanwhile, Vale have struck a deal with Bristol Rovers to extend Lewis Haldane's loan deal to a third month.

The 24-year-old striker's most recent one-month loan deal expired on Saturday when he made his seventh start for the club.

Adams said: "Lewis has got the ingredient that hurts teams at this level and that's pace.

"I still think he can get better and needs to get a little more selfish. But he's a threat and we're happy with him."

However, fellow loanee Damien McCrory will head held back to Plymouth today after his latest one-month deal also ran out on Saturday.

Since starting his second loan spell in late August the 19-year-old midfielder, whose deal at Plymouth expires at the end of the season, has only managed five appearances including two starts.

Adams added: "There is new coaching staff at Plymouth working with Paul Sturrock (Plymouth boss) and Damien feels it is in his best interests to go back and try and earn a new contract down there.

"We thank him for all his work and we wish him well."
