DAMIEN McCrory has thanked Port Vale for giving him his first chance in senior football ... and is not ruling out a return to Vale Park.

The 18-year-old is heading back to Championship side Plymouth after making 14 appearances, mainly at left-back, since joining the Valiants on loan in early October.

Vale boss Dean Glover had tried to extend the loan, which runs out today. But McCrory's 12-month contract at Plymouth expires in the summer and boss Paul Sturrock wants to assess his progress.

McCrory said: "I've got mixed emotions because I've loved being at Port Vale, but I'm happy to go back and hopefully carry on from where I've left off."

McCrory insists he is only concentrating on earning a new deal with Plymouth. But he added: "If the Plymouth manager wanted me to go out on loan again in the future I'd love to come back to Vale, although they may want to try to find a League One club.

"Dean Glover gave me my chance and I feel I have taken it. He stood by me and not all managers give young players that chance."

Meanwhile, Glover is awaiting a response from Wolves after trying to extend Lee Collins's loan spell – which ends on Saturday – until the end of the season.

Loan midfielder Dave Brammer is in talks with his parent club Millwall over agreeing a settlement on his current contract. Glover wants to extend Brammer's loan, but could offer the 33-year-old a permanent deal should he become a free agent in January. The Vale boss has also held informal talks with free agent Scott Brown over a permanent deal.
