Golf: Put club juniors on celebrity rounds

Thursday, June 18, 2009, 09:29

GOLF clubs are being urged to sponsor a junior in a celebrity event to raise funds for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

The event was launched 12 months ago when comedian Stan Boardman, former footballer Ian St John and actor Tim Healey were among the celebrities helping to raise more than £18,000.

The event takes place at Newcastle Golf Club on Thursday, July 30 and the cost of sponsoring a junior is £150.

That will cover the cost of a round with a celebrity, all refreshments and a gala dinner at the Moat House Hotel in the evening.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for a junior to take part in what is a very special day," said Peter Keller, chairman of Hospice Golf Days.

Places can be reserved (no later than July 10) by e-mailing peterkeller@dmhospice.org.uk or by phone on 01782 344304.
