'I don't need visit the gym any more...'

LYNDSEY Eaton-Dawson changed her opinion of pole dancing when she took it up as a hobby a year ago.

The 20-year-old, of Bedcroft, Barlaston, says it's a great way to shape up, and even has her own pole in her garage at home.

"When you hear the words 'pole dancing', people often think of gentlemen's clubs," says Lyndsey, who is single and works as a sales co-ordinator.

"But I was keen to give it a go, because it's something different. It has that little bit of an edge to it.

"And while some people's jaws dropped when I told them what I was doing, they soon realised the fitness involved."

Lyndsey is also taught by Deb Riley, having started by going along with a friend.

"The first time I did it I thought it was great. We started with just simple moves, and we've kept building up since."

Lyndsey used to work out daily in a gym, but found she wasn't satisfied with the results, but since taking up pole dancing, she's found no need for treadmills or exercise bikes.

"I realised there was a lot more to pole dancing than I thought," she says.

"It's a very good way to tone up and I've not been to the gym since.

"Plus, I've now got a pole in my garage, so while I go to a class every week I can also practice at home."

And, she adds, the benefits are far more than just physical.

"Pole dancing helps build confidence and it makes you feel more sexy.

"I do it as a hobby now, but I'm thinking of competing next year."
