Are you a savvy Staffordshire singleton?
Singletons have adapted their checklist when it comes to finding the perfect partner, with the stagnant economy extending its influence into the fast-paced world of dating.
New research has revealed that UK singletons are on the lookout for a money-savvy spouse with revered budgeting skills to support them through the tough economic times.
In a sign of the times, a huge 72% of people would think twice about starting a serious relationship if a prospective partner wasn’t proficient in managing their money.*
However, this varies widely between regions. Intriguingly, a lack of financial awareness would act as a warning sign for just 64% of those living in the West Midlands.
While this figure is comparatively lower than the East of England (82%) and Scotland (77%), almost two thirds of Staffordshire singletons are putting a price on love by prioritising their financial protection before making a commitment.
Over half of respondents (59%) said possessing the ability to budget effectively was a more attractive quality than having the means to splash out occasionally (36%).
The study revealed that the biggest turn-offs in a potential partner are a reckless attitude to money (34%) and an impulsive spending habit (23%).
It also shows that women in the UK are keener than their male counterparts to find a partner who is good with their money, with 79% of women saying they would reconsider starting a serious relationship if they feared the prospective partner didn’t manage their money well, compared with 64% of men.
With 64% of people agreeing that money management can affect the success of a relationship, it seems as though money actually can buy you love.
Individuals who are in debt and struggling to keep on top of monthly repayments may wish to consider debt management. This allows you to take control of your debts, and clear your outstanding balance with a monthly payment system based on what you can afford.
