STUDENTS will be able to turn their hand to catering with the opening of a new facility at their school.

Girls at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form will be able to make use of a four classroom extension as soon as September.

The extension will include a refurbished restaurant staffed by students on the school's hospitality and catering course.

The restaurant, named The Common Room, has been running for three years but the extension means it will be able to host additional events and undertake more food preparation on site.

Sixth form head Kate Baddeley said: "I am already impressed that the college provides such fabulous opportunities and our new facilities will help us to build on our already excellent sixth form provision."
