Is he for real?
REGARDING your story, '£132k assistant is 'coming home'' (Sentinel, May 17).
Could anyone tell me why we are paying Mr van de Laarschot a huge pay packet, when he now needs an assistant to help him?
Since coming to Stoke-on-Trent, all he has done is slash services like our disabled baths, Tunstall baths, and slash parks and recreation budgets, as well as close Bucknall Farm.
May I say now, that park is a disgrace. There has been no money spent on it in years.

It has less in the playground now than when I was a lad (many years ago).
Now I read that he is to appoint an assistant on a salary of £132,000 a year.
Is he taking the mickey? Does he and this council think we are all stupid?
I am sure I am not the only one to agree what a sham our council is.
I am not the only one who was under the impression we needed to save money, not spend it on a job that has been made up.
