Not enough done to promote city
I HAVE just read about the Disney store closing, which is another sad loss to the Potteries Centre.
I'm not too sure why so much money is being spent on a new shopping centre when the existing one cannot be filled or keep the retailers it has got.
The council, Potteries Centre and retailers need to get together to iron out the problems that exist.
I went late-night shopping in Hanley a few times in December and you couldn't even tell it was Christmas, apart from a few lights in the trees.

For some reason the council and the Potteries Centre didn't do enough advertising about the later shopping nights and they didn't make people aware that it was only £1.50 to park.
They should take a leaf out of cities such as Manchester and Birmingham, who know how to promote their city and know how to keep their shoppers stimulated and entertained.
If Hanley isn't promoted better soon, they will find more retailers leaving the shopping centre.

“What's to promote?
The ONLY thing going for this city with respect to attracting new businesses is the ridiculously low wages paid here. This is then offset by the council charging extortionate rates fro properties.
As for the Disney store closing, it's hardly been a stalwart of the local economy to be fair, and let's be honest they've been charging the earth for tat.”
