Matt said: "We want to remain true to our current alternative and indie vibe but give the place some TLC.

"We would like to become more of a traditional ale house from Monday to Thursday and to be a live venue and club at the weekend.

"Regulars won't be disappointed. It will have the same feel, it will just be much more comfortable than it is at the moment."

Around £20,000 of the budget will be spent on new toilet facilities alone and the pub will also be fitted with a new heating system, as well as furnishings and fittings.

Matt's business partner, Ross Lawton, added: "We cater to a wide range of musical tastes and we want everyone to leave our live gigs intending to come back and spend time here in the week too."

Ross said they plan to set up a kitchen and slowly introduce fresh late night food at the weekends.

On the menu will be pizzas, burgers and other snacks.

"We definitely don't want to put off our regular customers, which is why we will remain a music venue Friday to Sunday.

"Our aim is to make it a nicer place to come into in the week because at the moment it doesn't look too inviting."

Full Moon regular, Stephen Regnauld, aged 35, lives five minutes away from the pub in Heath Street.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to the refurb. It's my local and I pop into the pub a couple of times a week and I'm there most weekends too.

"It's exactly what the area needs, a real traditional ale house instead of another soulless chain bar."

Stephen said the new-look won't turn off the regulars.

"If anything it will drum up more business," he said.

"It's already a great place to have a drink, the staff are really friendly and nice.

"Making it more comfortable and warm in the winter will make it an even nicer place to spend the evening."

After the refurbishment, the Full Moon will open from 5pm until midnight Sunday to Thursday.

The pub will host live music at weekends, from 9pm until 11pm, with DJ sets from 11pm until 2am.

A music-packed night will mark its reopening on November 9 including an acoustic set from The Subways frontman Billy Lunn and performances from local bands The Rittz and Youtha.

DJ Mark Askew will round off the night.
