A CITY centre bar closed last night for a £250,000 redevelopment.

Walkabout, in Hanley, will be now closed until a grand re-opening on Friday, February 17.

At least 12 new jobs will be created at the Trinity Street bar through the redevelopment.

Walkabout's head of sales Tony Watson said: "I'm delighted to be able to invest in the future of Hanley. "Walkabout has always been a popular place for dining, sport and partying in Hanley.

"Since opening in 2003, it's been one of our best performing venues.

"Our redevelopment programme will create a stunning venue."

Regional sales manager Daniel Kidd added: "The total refit will include an amazing new bar, booths and comfy seating.

"The development, as well as being a £250,000 investment into the future of the city centre, will also create more than a dozen new jobs."
