THE £10 million Wedgwood Museum opened its doors in October 2008, and less than a year later landed the Art Fund Prize 2009 – the UK's most prestigious art prize.

Exhibits are displayed chronologically from 1730, the date of founder Josiah Wedgwood's birth.

As well as thousands of pieces of pottery, it features paintings of the Wedgwood family by renowned artists George Stubbs and Sir Joshua Reynolds, the factory fire engine used at the firm's base in Etruria in the late 18th century and a virtual factory tour where visitors can 'fly' around the Etruria site. You can even check out how you might have looked as the subject of one of Wedgwood's famous creations by having a cameo portrait taken.
