MICKY Adams has warned Vale striker Danny Glover against slipping back into his old complacent ways after winning a first-team reprieve.

The 20-year-old had been frozen out of the manager's first-team plans this season after being placed on the club's transfer-list.

But Glover's much-improved attitude earned him a first appearance of the season on Tuesday when he arrived as an 89th-minute substitute in Vale's 1-0 FA Cup replay victory at Stevenage Borough.

Now Adams has urged the playerGlover not to undo his recent good work by taking his foot off the gas.

"The challenge for Danny Glover is to maintain the standards he's set himself in the last three weeks, and to keep the same attitude," said Adams. "I don't put people into squads for sentimental reasons, that's not the way I operate."

"If people show me they've got the right attitude, then they're in."

"He's got himself into the squad and it's only him who can get himself out of it.

"Over the past month, in reserve games and in training, he's shown an appetite for the game I perhaps didn't previously see and that's why he finds himself back in the squad."

Glover, who is the son of former Valiants boss Dean Glover, was recalled to Vale's matchday squad last Saturday when they lost 2-1 at home to Rotherham.

His promotion came just days after he grabbed a brace in the second-string's 5-1 victory at Walsall.

While Adams insists he is happy with his attacking options, he revealed he will explore the possibility of recruiting a new striker before next Thursday's loan deadline.

Jamie Guy has already been sent back to Colchester United, and Football League rules mean fellow loan forward Lewis Haldane must return to Bristol Rovers next month.

Adams added: "Will we be looking to bring another striker? Possibly.

"We need to score goals and turn some of these draws into wins. If we do that we'll be a force in this division."

Adams could also continue his pursuit of two unnamed League One defenders he was close to signing this week.

VALE have announced ticket prices for their second-round FA Cup tie against League One side Huddersfield Town a week on Saturday at 3pm.

Adult tickets will cost £16, those for the over-60s and 14 to 18-year-olds are priced at £10, while under-14s will pay £6.

The tie will played on Saturday November 28 (3pm).
