CHEADLE and District Choral Society is currently on the lookout for a new musical director following the retirement of Ken Lovatt.

The mixed choir has been busy making music in the Moorlands for over 100 years and members are keen for the tradition to continue. Roy Hedges, chairman of the society, says: "Since his retirement as a full-time music teacher Ken has created the tradition of bringing Glamorous Nights to the town through the music of the Strauss dynasty, Rogers and Hammerstein, Abba, Lehar, Handel, Gilbert and Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Webber and many more. This week he attains the age of 80 and has decided to hang up his baton after 15 years conducting. The society will miss him terribly and is now left with the task of finding a suitable replacement."

Anyone interested in learning more about the position of musical director is asked to contact the chairman on 01538 753568 or email roythedges@hotmail.com
