Two people taken to hospital after house fire in Knutton, Newcastle

A house fire in Knutton, in Newcastle-under-Lyme yesterday (Sunday, May 20) left two people needing hospital treatment for smoke inhalation and breathing difficulties. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a property in Church Lane at around 7.45am.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle and an Incident Support Officer attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Ambulance crews treated an elderly man and a woman in her twenties for smoke inhalation and breathing difficulties. The patients were conveyed to University Hospital North Staffordshire.

    “this elderly man was my brave grandad george.. he went in 3 times to try and rescue his niece inside .. my nana (his wife ) pulled him back from all the smoke . i just hope my grandad who turned 75 gets well in hospital.the brave solider xx nikki edwards”
