Why are people picking on Cafe Rumi?
I am at a loss to understand the minds of some of our councillors concerning Cafe Rumi, pictured, and its stone cladding.
Have the councillors really looked at the High Street shops? There is stone cladding on what used to be Mr Hurst's toffee shop.
What about chrome fronts to the so-called modern shops, some of which are empty? What about looking at the upstairs windows in many of them? Some could do with repairs, while others just have rubbish piled against them.
What about Bargain Booze? You can't tell me that is preferred to stone cladding. This shop, I believe, is older than Cafe Rumi.
As to other matters, there is to be more houses in Allen Street. Do the councillors ever consider that more bungalows are needed?
A golden opportunity was lost when the old bus station was for sale, across the road from a chemist, paper shop, groceries and post office.
When people are old, they want to see something and remain independent for as long as possible.
Some day the councillors will be old and not have a car. I hope I will live long enough to see that happen – then I can say 'I told you so' and have a good laugh.
