MUSICIAN Chuck Micallef, above, will play at the first in a series of concerts to be held in memory of his wife.

Following the success of last year's events The 2010 One Day In May Festival Concert Series begins on Thursday at The Rigger, Marsh Parade, Newcastle.

As well as singer-songwriter Chuck, Amy Condrey and Julia Mosley will also perform.

The night is dedicated to the memory of Janet Griffiths Micallef, who died in 2008 with small cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of lung cancer.

Proceeds will be donated to cancer research at Keele University. Tickets cost £5.

There will be five concerts leading up to the One Day In May Music And Arts Festival being held at the Student Union Building in Keele University on Saturday, May 15.
