'I don't think it's going to rival Rio'

Julie Pearce, aged 33, of Alton Street, Crewe, said: "I only live down the road so I thought I'd have a look. The kids have been looking forward to the fair."

Maureen Brownlee, aged 66, of Wistaston, said: "I haven't been for years but it seems very good. There's been a good atmosphere in the park."

Phil Barnes, aged 54, of Wistaston, said: "The carnival is all right but I'm not getting over excited about it. I don't think it's going to rival Rio."

George Wilcox, aged 45, of The Beeches, Nantwich, said: "My daughter likes to go to the fun fair, and I come to the carnival to see the bands."
