Teen was set upon by mob

DETECTIVES are making a fresh appeal for witnesses to an assault on a teenager in a city park.

The 15-year-old victim was walking through Longton Park, Queen's Park Avenue, at around 7.45pm on October 27, when he was set on by a gang of up to 20 youths.

The boy suffered a fractured cheekbone and concussion in what officers describe as an unprovoked assault. Patrols have been stepped up in and around Longton Park, and detectives have been speaking to witnesses. The offenders were described as Asian and aged from 13 to 20.

The 15-year-old's mum said: "He was just walking through the park with three friends when he was attacked for no reason, and punched and kicked in his back and head. He managed to escape and dial 999."
