Psychic Midas has golden touch for Stoke City (VIDEO)
But was there an even greater strength urging Abdoulaye to silence his former fans?
For sitting in an executive box at St James's Park was sport psychic, Midas – the Midas who predicted in July that Stoke City will stay up this season, the Midas who predicted Stoke will score plenty of last-minute goals and the Midas who told The Sentinel on Friday that this weekend's match would end in a draw.
"At half time I was thinking, oh dear," admitted self-proclaimed lucky charm Midas, or Dean Maynard to his family, after the match.
"But 95 minutes and I'm over the moon; it's like three points.
"I said at the start of the season it would be late goals that would keep Stoke up.
"We were dead and buried and to come back is great."
So far, Midas's finest footballing hour came when he was approached by Sunderland Football Club after fans claimed the club was jinxed following reports of a training ground ghost.
He threw his support behind the team and suddenly the run of defeats, penalty misses and injuries was halted.
Now Midas is turning his attention to the Potters in their bid to stay in the top flight.

He said: "I am getting more passionate about Stoke all the time. I was having to bite my lip when things were being said about Stoke during the game as I was taking it really personally.
"I honestly felt before the game that Stoke could come here and do something.
"To come here and be 2-0 down and then get a draw is fantastic.
"Stoke fans, believe, because the Midas is going to keep us up."
Midas has revealed he made his July prediction without even knowing about Rory Delap's long throws.
And Stoke fans should expect more last-minute drama against Manchester United on Boxing Day when Midas will be at the Britannia Stadium.
Supporter Bryan Shaw has promised to buy Midas a pint if his vibes keep Stoke in the Premier League.
But the chairman of Stoke's official supporters' club is quick to point out Stoke have also conceded a few last-minute goals.
He said: "I think his prediction about us staying up will be right, and if he is right I will be happy.
"But we have had as many last-minute defeats as we have had wins, so if he can stop that it would be better.
"The youth team got a late win against Coventry on Wednesday, so if he is going down as far as the youth team we will have to hope it is catching."
