Police raid on tenant

POLICE issued a warning to a man after raiding his home.

Officers executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Macdonald Crescent, Meir, on Thursday.

The raid came after the force received a number of complaints of anti-social behaviour.

Officers recovered a small amount of cannabis and a 19-year-old man was given a police warning.

Officers were accompanied on the raid by MP Rob Flello and a housing officer from Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

As a result of the raid, the occupant terminated the tenancy and will move out within 28 days.

Inspector Elliott Sharrard-Williams, commander of Longton NPU, said: "This is a great result for the community of Macdonald Crescent, an area which is affected by anti-social behaviour.

"Although only a small quantity of drugs was recovered, it was sufficient to support the city council in reviewing the tenancy arrangements.

"I'm confident this will significantly reduce the anti-social behaviour problem within the street."

A house in Lansbury Grove was also raided by police yesterday and a 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and the production of a Class B drug. He has been bailed pending further inquiries and has terminated his tenancy contract.
