Naan but the best for Ali's customers
His shop, the Fresh Naan Bakery, in Burslem, is pulling in the customers from all over North Staffordshire.
The shop has only been open for two months but Ali is already considering ways to expand after being inundated with requests from hungry naan bread lovers.
The shop, in Waterloo Road, sells nothing but naan bread, which is cooked in front of customers' eyes within minutes.
Ali, aged 38, who lives in Fenton, said: "Back in Iraq shops like these are very popular so I thought why not open one in Stoke?
"I've been wanting to open the shop for the last two years but couldn't find a suitable place."
Ali, who moved to Stoke-on-Trent seven years ago, has invested £10,000 into the shop to make it a success.
He is also working night shifts at the Pets at Home warehouse near the Britannia Stadium to finance the business.
He said: "Our customers tell me they love the naan breads which we sell and that is very satisfying to hear.
"Our naans are cheaper than the supermarket and takeaways so I think that's why people are coming to us.
"A lot of our customers are English which is nice to see. We've had people from as far as Cheadle because they like our naans so much.
"We've also had big orders from the mosque in Cobridge who wanted 300 naan breads, and for a wedding when we supplied 280 naan breads.
"My aim is to get enough money to buy a pizza oven, so I can start to cook more naan bread and more keema naans, which are more traditional and delicious."
The most popular bread with customers so far is the garlic naan, which cost £1 for two.
Customers have welcomed the shop.
Dave Price, aged 41, who lives in Tunstall, said: "They're very tasty and really good value for money."
Rob Barrett, aged 32, who lives in Talke, said: "I don't think there's any other shops like this. It's very handy if you're having a curry at home because you can just pop in for some naan bread."
