Garden opens as homage to Robbie Williams
09:09 - 22-July-2008
The entertainment-themed design is called Let Us Entertain You and is Stoke-on-Trent City Council's entry in the Royal Horticultural Society show at Tatton Park, Cheshire.
Robbie's mother Jan Williams and sister Sally were opening the exhibit just as judges began assessing entries.
The city's design includes a laser-cut screen depicting a theatre, music, film and literature, with red, orange and yellow begonias representing the tiers of a music hall. Layers of coleus form the stage and curtains and bright yellow cannas have been used to conjure up footlights.
Pictured is Anna Varley Jones, who works at the show. She said: “The colours are vibrant.
“The flower bed represents modern culture and Stoke-on-Trent's musical heritage.”
The Tatton Show opens to the public tomorrow.
