GUDJON Thordarson has stressed his commitment to Crewe by outlining his plans for next season.
The Alex manager's future has been a hot topic with fans concerned he only has a rolling contract at the Alexandra Stadium.
But Thordarson told a supporters' forum last night
He has already been in talks with a Championship-standard keeper he hopes to entice to Crewe for the 2009/2010 campaign.
He has spoken to out-of-contract players about their future at Crewe.
He is to have talks with unsettled defender Danny Woodards about a new deal with Crewe after his new lease of life as a midfield player.
Fans were also reassured by club chairman John Bowler that Thordarson was in sole charge of first-team affairs.
Thordarson said: "I've started to approach players, some of whom I would like to move on and others I'd like to keep. I've spoken to a keeper who is a good age at 24 or 25, and if I could bring him in for next season he would be an asset."
Thordarson wants to trim his squad so he can bring in better quality players, such as loan signing Gylfi Sigurdsson, whose future at Reading is being monitored.
"Gylfi has a year left on his contract, but if Reading are promoted to the Premier League, I don't think he will fancy his chances."
Thordarson's planning suggests he is not only confident of maintaining League One football at Crewe, but also certain he will be at the helm come August, although his contractual position remains a potentially short-term arrangement.
Bowler told the meeting: "We've got a contract with Gudjon we're both happy with. A rolling contract rolls and rolls into the future, but if either party terminate it they have to give a period of notice." Thordarson added: "It hasn't been an issue for me."
