Crewe Alex: Daniel offered Macc deal

Crewe Alex: Daniel offered Macc deal

CREWE reject Colin Daniel concedes he knew his time at Gresty Road was up when he was allowed to join Macclesfield on loan.

But Daniel's short stint at the Moss Rose provided a silver lining for the former Eastwood Town winger as he has now been offered a contract by the Silkmen.

The 21-year-old was determined to stay in the Football League after he was released by Gudjon Thordarson at the end of last season.

Daniel said: "I knew I wasn't in Gudjon's plans. He said he would be watching me when I was out on loan, but I don't think he was.

"I don't think I was his type of player. I'd had a decent run in the side, but when he came in I was soon out.

"It was probably down to the work ethic and that is a side of my game I can improve.

"But I'm certainly not going to give up and I'm determined to stay in the League."

Daniel arrived at Crewe in a deal worth up to £60,000 in May 2007 and appeared to have made his breakthrough into first-team football last term. But he faded away after initially featuring under Thordarson's new regime.

Daniel said: "Before I went away on holiday I spoke to (Macclesfield manager) Keith Alexander. I enjoyed my time on loan at Macc.

"I went in April and played eight games, so it is something I am seriously considering.

Macc have also declared an interest in midfielder Mark Carrington, who joined Daniel through the exit door after Crewe's relegation to League Two.

CREWE'S Carling Cup first round home clash with Blackpool has been pencilled in for Tuesday, August 11 (7.45pm).

Admission is £10 and £5 and £3 concessions.
