GROWING SHOW: Record numbers of amateur rose growers displayed their blooms at an annual flower show.

There were around 180 exhibits at the 17th Rose Show at Bridgemere Garden World, near Nantwich, over the weekend.

There were 47 show classes including categories for large flowers, miniature roses and floral art.

There was also a fun class where exhibitors were required to float a single rose bloom in water in a two-and-a-half inch glass.

Winner of the Best Bloom In Show was Tony Bracegirdle, from Ramsbottom in Lancashire. Garden centre manager Gary Kemp said: “The show gives amateur growers the chance to exhibit roses within a friendly, competitive atmosphere.”

Nicola Heesom, aged 21, of Nantwich, is pictured admiring some of the blooms.
