THE former head coach of England's under-16 football team will visit Newcastle College tonight.

Former professional footballer Kenny Swain will be leading coaching sessions with some of the college's football academy players.

Mr Swain will then be shown round the new sports facilities at the college's £60 million campus development on Knutton Lane, which include a multi-purpose all-weather pitch, several enhanced grass pitches and an indoor sports centre with four-court sports hall, gymnasium and dance studio.

Karen Dobson, college principal and chief executive, said: "It's testament to the high regard with which our College Football Academy is held that the FA want to come and use our students in sessions with their trainees."

Newcastle-under-Lyme College runs two football academies in association with Newcastle Town Football Club and Manchester Metropolitan University.
