Honour sporting heroes with nominations

RESIDENTS have been invited to help recognise the individuals, teams and administrators who help keep community sport alive.

Newcastle Sports Council will hold its annual sportspersons' evening at the town's Civic Offices in May.

It is looking for nominations for clubs, schools and organisations borough-wide, who should win awards for their outstanding contribution.

Organisers want to hear about individuals and teams who have achieved sporting success, those who do their best for their team-mates and club, and the administrators who work behind the scenes to make it all possible.

Awards will be presented by the Mayor of Newcastle during a ceremony in Merrial Street on May 20.
