We need local power station
This proposed new power station that is earmarked for the Cresswell area, near Blythe Bridge, seems to have ruffled the feathers of a few of the residents in the countryside.
With the closing, over the years, of huge factories such as Harrison Mayer and Creda, surely the priority should be about jobs.
A power station would bring quite a few much-needed jobs to an area that now boasts nothing more than a chip shop or two, a couple of builders' merchants and a pallet-making firm.
The selfishness of some people never ceases to amaze me.
Just because they may have a lorry going past their house every now and again, then it's a case of pull the ladder up and blow the rest.
There should be a power station built in this area to help with the job situation, but I agree it should not be built on the Blythe Park site.
I have a much better site, just off the A50, with its own roundabout and a history of industry. The site is the old Creda factory.
There is great road access, plenty of room where the factory is and, if need be, there is the space on the golf course and cricket pitch.
Traffic would not be a problem, as the heavy lorries would just turn off the A50 and up the Creda drive.
So there you have it – people in jobs, a power station and no mither to anyone.
