POLICE are warning elderly people to be on their guard against distraction burglaries.

Two men approached a man in his 70s at his home in St Mary's Road, Nantwich, on June 19, at around 3pm.

Officers say they told him they were fixing a boiler next door and needed to turn his taps on to run a dye through the water. It is believed one stood talking to him while the other searched the house.

A similar incident happened the same day at around 4pm in Smallman Road, Crewe, when two men approached a man in his 90s and claimed to be from the water board. Officers say the same men could be responsible for both incidents.

Anyone with information can call police on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
