Parents dig deep to support primary school

AMAZING: Parents have been urged to dig deep to help fund improvements at a primary school.

The Parents Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) at St Giles' Primary School, Cheadle, hopes to drum up £5,000 from parental contributions and fund-raising events. And, if members are successful, they will then be able to tap into a £50,000 building fund to pay for improvements at the Victorian school.

Fund-raising was given a major boost during a bring-and-buy sale at the Charles Street school last week, while PTFA treasurer Lisa English said parents had been asked to donate £10 per child or £15 for a family.

She said: "We are more or less on target with the contributions and the PTFA will then match it.

"The school was built in the early 1800s and needs some general improvements for the benefit of the next couple of generations.

"We raised an amazing £443.94. Thanks to all those who helped."
