New site is just the job

POLICE have signed a deal to build a new police station on the site of a former Jobcentre after selling their current base to a property developer.

Staffordshire Police have bought the Department of Work and Pensions site in Chapel Street, Cheadle.

The move comes after almost five years of looking for a new base to replace their crumbling High Street premises.

David Pearsall, of the Police Authority, said " I am delighted we have found somewhere."
