Birthday fun for guides

A FLAG parade, singing, readings and the lighting of 100 tealights will all be part of Kingsley Holt Guides' celebrations for an annual event.

Thinking Day is held on scouting and guiding founder Robert Baden-Powell's birthday and is designed to give members a day of reflection.

Unit guider Jane McFarlane said: "We wanted to do something special as it's our centenary, so we moved our meeting night from Thursday to Monday so we could celebrate on Thinking Day and have invited the community to celebrate with us."

"We want to light 100 tealights on the night, to mark our 100th birthday, and it would be great if we could see 100 people in church with us."

People linked with the movement are invited to attend a service, which will be held at St Werburgh's Church, Kingsley, on Monday, February 22, from 7.30pm.
