PIANIST Martin Helmchen takes centre stage at the Victoria Hall next Friday night when he joins the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24. Part of the Stoke-on-Trent Festival's 40th anniversary celebrations, the concert will also include Mozart's Symphony No. 23 and Dvorak's Symphony No. 8. It starts at 8pm. The Debussy Ensemble continues the Concerts At Keele next Wednesday night with a performance at the University's Westminster Theatre at 7.30pm. The concert is set to include works by Arnold Bax, Fauré, William Mathias and, among others, Debussy. Tickets cost £12 and £6. Call 01782 734169.

Opera Della Luna arrives at the Regent Theatre early next month to perform Johann Strauss's sparkling Die Fledermaus. The saucy tale of mystery, deceit and outrageous flirtation is one of the most popular operettas in the repertoire and can be seen on Monday, February 8 and Tuesday, February 9 at 8pm. The lunchtime concerts at St Paul's Church, Newcastle, continue next month with a performance by Keele University finalists on Tuesday, February 9. It starts at 12.30pm and admission is free. Retiring donation welcome.
