TONIGHT there's the chance to see fantastic local band Nemo, pictured below, play The Full Moon, in Newcastle, with support from The Sears. Entrance is £2.50 on the door from 8.30pm, and £2 after 11pm when resident DJ SweetJayne takes to the decks.

Alternatively, post-hardcore rockers Canterbury play The Sugarmill. The five-piece have just got off the Good To Go Tour with We Are The Ocean and All Forgotten and are set to rock Hanley from 7pm. Tickets are £5.50 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

On Saturday, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys play The Old Brown Jug from 9.30pm. Described as an excellent and entertaining jazz swing band who look as though they have stepped out of a 1940s film, they perform exhilarating Kansas City jazz and blues. Entrance is free.

At the Full Moon, indie rock cover band Magnetic Jellyfish play from 8.30pm followed by DJ Dave Heathen with indie/rock anthems until 2.30am. Entrance is £2.

Local indie rockers Tequila Lips play The Underground from 8pm. The band are promoting the launch of their first official CD Crystal Ball, culminating with the 'Lips performing as the headline act. The limited edition release will be available on the night and support comes from The Boothen. Tickets cost £4.50 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

Alternatively, Queens in Basford host Livid and DJ Foxz's night of rock from 9pm. Livid are making waves on the music scene as they boast over 500,000 genuine Myspace hits, regularly play sell-out shows and have supported bands such as The Darkness, Dave Mustaine and many more. Winners of the 2002 All England Masters Championship and North West Area Champions for four times in five years, Fodens band are one of the most famous in the country. Catch Sounding Brass and Welsh Male Voices: Rhos Orpheus Choir and Fodens Band at The Victoria Hall on Sunday, from 7pm. Tickets cost between £5 and £15 on 0844 871 7649.

The Winking Frog, in Hanley, continues its Battle of The Bands 2009 competition with Heat 3 taking place on Tuesday. Showcasing fantastic local bands Guerilla Train and Heart Of The Sun from 8pm, entrance is free.

Wednesday sees One Night Of Queen with Gary Mullen play a sold out show from 8pm at Hanley's Victoria Hall. Former computer operator Gary won the 2000 series Stars In Their Eyes with his tribute to Freddie Mercury, and is now backed by his band The Works.
