TONIGHT escape those unlucky omens at the reincarnated Full Moon in Newcastle. The Rearrangements, an original pop punk four-piece guitar band play from 8pm with support from The Last Archive, and DJ SweetJayne taking to the decks until 2.30am. Entrance is £2 on the door.

On Saturday heavy metal band I.C.O.N. take to the stage at The Rigger in Newcastle, from 8pm. The band are promoting their debut album New Born Lie. Entrance is strictly for those 18+.

Sunday sees the legendary Status Quo play their sold out show at The Victoria Hall.

Self-confessed disco freaks I Haunt Wizards play live at The Box in Crewe for a one-off Sunday social. Billed by many as the UK's answer to Lady Gaga, below, and currently sharing column inches with Little Boots and Ladyhawke, the band have clocked up more than three million hits on MySpace. Doors open at 8.30pm and tickets are available through official ticket sellers See Tickets or via the venue directly on 01270 257398.

Alternatively Me Vs Hero plays a headline slot at The Sugarmill from 8pm. The band, who are unsigned, have enjoyed rave reviews from the likes of Rock Sound and Kerrang. Tickets are £5.50 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

On Tuesday The Winking Frog in Hanley, formally known as The Bandstand, will host the first heat of the battle of the bands 2009 competition, with bands Laid to Ruin, Fake Heroes and What Would the Captain Do taking to the stage from 8pm. Entrance is £4 on the door.

Alternatively indie/electro mash up stars Hadouken! play their sold out gig at The Sugarmill from 7.30pm.

Thursday sees the second heat of The Winking Frog's battle of the bands competition. Bands have yet to be announced, but entrance is £4 on the door from 8pm.

Dont miss out on the chance to see top local post punk band The Control headline The Beat Route in Congleton for free on Friday from 8pm. Support comes from quality local act Dirty Little Rascals.

Also on Friday, The Underground bids farewell to A Broken Tomorrow as they play their final show. The band announced their break-up on their MySpace site. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are £4.50 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

Finally, 2 Tone ska legends Bad Manners have been announced for The Underground on Sunday, January 10.
