Friday, February 05, 2010, 09:20

A TRIBUTE concert to the late Tommy Burton takes place at Norton Cricket Club in Community Drive in Smallthorne.

Tommy's String associates known as The Sportinghouse Strings will play a range of songs performed by their much loved 'Guvnor' who passed away in 2000. The group, who consist of Thomas 'Spats' Langham on banjo, guitar and vocals, Richard Vernon who used to accompany Tommy on bass, and Martin Litton, pictured, on piano, formed in 2001. Visiting various jazz venues and festivals they have built up a huge fanbase. Their past musical experience allows them to turn their hand to a wide variety of genres. Tommy, known for his stylish piano playing and quirky vocals, made a name for himself with many TV and radio appearances in his 30 year career. If you wish to see them, get your tickets quick, as the busy diaries of the trio mean performances are rare.

The concert takes place on Wednesday February 10 at 8.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Denis Butcher on 01782 621678
